I'm 35 years old, and read Marshall's book in 2013. At that time, I was really interested in buddhism and human spiritual nature. But something was missing: how do you reconcile your daily life and problems, your traumas and history with your spiritual side?
Reading  Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life brought me answers I needed, and I started to practice by myself, everyday, before falling asleep, I would review my day and try to find my / other people's feelings and needs (met or unmet).
The first time I met a NVC trainer, it really grounded my practice within my body, I got a deeper and clearer understanding of NVC. At the same time, I thought "ok, I wanna be where she is, at some point in my life, that's where I want to contribute to life". A few years later, I started for real and practiced and practiced and practiced....

NVC really helped me to be more compassionate about others when they act in a way that doesn't meet my needs. I can understand where they come from, relate to them and thus welcome where they are. I can also truly taste the joy of giving, the joy of receiving.

My whole life, I heard I was too intense, felt too strongly about things and it was an additionnal suffering to not being understood. Now, I welcome this intensity and can understand its source and act in a way that can meet my needs and others.

I am now a primary school teacher and can definitly see how living NVC for myself affects the kids and adults (coworkers, parents) I interact with. I want to share NVC with my fellow teachers so they can live it for themselves and become role models for the kids. Today I feel more at peace than when I was a younger adult and want to share NVC for others to find their own way.
